Hey, it's Rebecca. Welcome back to the show. Today we're talking about something close to my heart women's travel groups and how it's not just about exploring new destinations, it's about discovering yourself. So grab a cup of coffee, settle in and let's dive into the incredible ways that these group trips can empower us. Let's start with this have you ever done something you were terrified of simply because someone else believed in you?
Speaker 1:I have pretty much all the time when I think back to my time as an athlete most of the time I would do well out on the racetrack because my coaches believed in me, because my teammates believed in me, often even when I didn't even believe in myself and to me. That's what women's travel groups are all about, and that's why I lead women on really amazing trips, because it's important for me to create a supportive environment where people feel comfortable taking risks and pushing their boundaries. One woman on one of the trips I led called it an expanding circle of support where everyone helps everyone, and that's what I love about group trips. You know pushing yourself. Imagine hiking up a really steep trail or kayaking for the first time and having a dozen women cheering you on. That's empowering, because you realize that you're capable of so much more than you thought. And then there's confidence. So imagine being in a foreign city and I recently did a YouTube video about safe solo traveling tips but when I landed in Cusco, peru, I was not feeling awesome. I was sick, I was exhausted, I didn't really know where I was going, I didn't really know what the itinerary was for the first couple days that I was there, before the rest of the group arrived. I'm trying to navigate getting through customs and getting through the airport and finding a taxi and all these things. So that experience at the Cusco airport would have been so much different if I would have been with a group, different if I would have been with a group and if I would have been with other people who were trying to figure it out together. You know, we all of a sudden it's not just one brain trying to figure this out. It's now the power of two or three or four brains trying to figure out that next challenge. And I love on group trips. You're not alone, because you're doing this thing with a bunch of women who are tackling the same challenges. You see them overcome their fears and suddenly you feel braver too. It's like this domino effect of courage and it's so beautiful.
Speaker 1:On our group trips there's also a lot of connection. There's something really magical about being on a trip with other women. We share laughs, we talk over campfires about things that are very deep and very personal. And then there's like the collective we did it after a really hard hike and if you see our Instagram, that's what it's all about sharing those we did it moments with each other and with members of our community who aren't able to join us for a group trip. That we did it. Picture video is so powerful and connections that we make when we're on the trail and when we're on these really epic group trips they're not just friendships. They're a reminder that we're part of something bigger.
Speaker 1:And speaking of something bigger, these trips also let us be unapologetically authentic. That is a really hard word to say. Unapologetically authentic, but I love it. Right? There's no one to impress, there's no societal expectations to meet, just the freedom to be and to do as we wish. I love that feeling. I love feeling like I can just be who I am.
Speaker 1:But here's something else that I've been thinking a lot about lately and I talked about it in our last podcast episode, so if you didn't listen to that. Go check it out. I think that seeing other women lead and thrive and explore serves as inspiration. You're surrounded by other women on our trips who challenge the limits of what society says women can or should do. I love the sisterhood that's developed on our group trips. That's that bond that we form with women who share our love and passion for adventure and travel. It's like finding your people. You know your soulmates. You laugh together, struggle together and come out stronger on the other side, especially on some of our bigger trips like Kilimanjaro. And yes, sometimes we even cry together sad tears, happy tears but we just let those emotions flow. All of this the support, the connections, the leadership opportunities that adds up to something really extraordinary.
Speaker 1:And when you come on a Hike, like a Woman trip, with us, it's not just a trip. It's really about rewriting the narrative of what we can do and who we can be, and along the way, that helps us discover parts of ourselves that we didn't even know existed. So let me leave you with this question when was the last time you did something just for you, something that scared you a little, but something that truly made you feel alive? And if you're looking for that spark. Maybe it's time for you to head to our website, hikelikeawomancom shameless plug and join me for a group adventure in 2025. We're headed to Iceland. We are headed to Costa Rica. We are headed to Southern Utah. We're going back to climb Mount Kilimanjaro and we are headed to Costa Rica. We are headed to southern Utah. We're going back to climb Mount Kilimanjaro and we are headed to Patagonia.
Speaker 1:I'm leading five group trips in 2025 and can I tell you something? I'm looking at our 2026 group calendar, or group trip calendar, right now, and I'm only going to be leading three or maybe four group trips in 2026. So if you've been thinking about joining me for an incredible adventure, a really big group trip, be sure to book a trip now. Hikelikewomancom is where you can totally find me now. Thanks for joining in today for this rambling conversation all about finding your people and finding yourself on these group trips, and if this resonated with you, I'd love for you to share it with someone in your life who's ready for her next big adventure. And I'd also love to hear your stories. Whether you've taken a group trip with me here at Hike Like a Woman or another women's group out there, I'd love to hear them.
